Elbow Dysplasia  is a painful joint condition caused by abnormal growth or development of the elbow joint, leading to arthritis and mobility issues over time. This orthopedic disorder commonly affects large and fast-growing breeds such as Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Rottweilers. Dogs with elbow dysplasia often show signs like front leg lameness, stiffness after rest, difficulty rising, or reluctance to play and exerciseorthopaedic.

The condition results from genetic factors, rapid growth, or poor nutrition during puppyhood, causing the bones in the elbow to fit poorly together. Early diagnosis through X-rays or CT scans and prompt treatment can help manage pain and slow down joint damage.

Treatments may include weight management, anti-inflammatory medications, joint supplements, physiotherapy, or corrective surgery in severe cases. Regular exercise control, maintaining a healthy diet, and responsible breeding can help reduce the risk of elbow dysplasia in dogs. Timely veterinary care ensures your pet stays active, comfortable, and free from long-term joint pain.
